Spotlight: Hampson Woods
Hampson Woods, the talented duo was set up by Jonty Hampson, a carpenter and cabinet maker, along with friend Sascha Gravenstein, a fine artist with a focus on landscape and sculpture.
They are both dedicated to designing and creating beautiful bespoke interiors and hand made products for the home. Their main focus is on small batches wood work designed and hand-made in their studio in Hackney, London. Determined to know the provenance of all materials, this collection of platters and boards is meticulously crafted from London Plane trees.
They only use FSC certified timber or if appropriate source from their own woodland in the Lake District or local arborists. Sourcing from carefully selected merchants who are chosen for their traditional and sustainable approach. This ensures an ethically-sound supply chain and means everyone from forester to finisher cares enough to know where each piece once had its roots. Information that is proudly passed on to every customer, with every product made.
"We expect this information with a good cut of meat, so why not for a product that lasts a lifetime?"
Used from naturally fallen trees around London, you never know you may even have a one from Russell Square? All finished in the workshop in Hackney which provides you with a warmth and longevity rarely found in today's mass-produced marketplace.
